Course Details
The Brisbane Food Handling Course will teach you everything you need to know to practice personal hygiene and prevent food contamination. With food handling knowledge and practical skills, you can prevent food-borne illnesses. Safe food handling is carried out by following organisational hygiene practices and identifying and eliminating food hazards.
This course is ideal for those working in businesses with temporary or permanent kitchens, bar areas, or food preparation stations. These businesses include but are not limited to cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, hotels, tour operators, events, attractions, functions, conference catering, and exhibitions. This course also applies to other organisations and events which require food preparation, such as aged care facilities, educational institutes, correctional facilities, defence forces, hospitals, canteens, kiosks, cafeterias, fast-food outlets, residential catering, in-flight and other transport catering.
Anyone who directly handles food or surfaces which come into contact with food, such as crockery and cutlery, during their day-to-day work tasks and chores will benefit significantly from this course. Caterers, chefs, cooks, kitchen hands, kitchen stewards, bar staff, food and beverage attendants, and even front office staff and room attendants require food handling knowledge.
Those who handle food must comply with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.
